Study questions value of raising HDL cholesterol to lower risk of MI

A study in Lancet found genetic variations that lead to increased HDL cholesterol don’t seem to decrease the risk of myocardial infarction (MI). The authors write that, “These data challenge the concept that raising of plasma HDL cholesterol will uniformly translate into reductions in risk of myocardial infarction.” Read more.
