Study: Rare gene mutations increase risk of autism in boys


A study in Human Molecular Genetics reports that five rare mutations of the gene AFF2 increase the risk that a boy will develop an autism spectrum disorder (ASD). ASD affects four times as many boys as girls. Read the study abstract and a news release about the study.
