It is with great excitement and deep gratitude that I step into the role of Executive Director for the Nebraska Nurses Association. Serving the nursing profession and our great state in this capacity is truly an honor, and I am eager to continue building upon the strong foundation that has been laid before me.

Over the past few months, I have had the privilege of working alongside Kim Houtwed, whose leadership and dedication to Nebraska’s nurses have left an incredible legacy. I am so thankful for her mentorship, guidance, and the time she has devoted to ensuring a smooth transition. Kim has set the bar high, and I know I have big shoes to fill—but I am confident that together, with your support, we will continue to move our profession forward.

As I begin this new chapter, I am inspired by the passion, resilience, and professionalism that Nebraska nurses demonstrate every day. My commitment is to advocate for you, to listen, and to lead with transparency, collaboration, and heart. I look forward to engaging with nurses across all settings and stages of their careers as we continue to strengthen our voice and impact within healthcare and beyond.

I am so proud to be a nurse and even prouder to serve you in this role. The future of nursing in Nebraska is bright—and I can’t wait to see what we will accomplish together.

Warm regards,
Megan Lowery MSN-Ed, RN
