A Transformational Year for Nurses House

By: American Nurses Association — New York

On behalf of the Nurses House Board of Directors, it is with much enthusiasm that we reflect on 2025—a truly transformational year for us. The past year has been dedicated to laying a stronger foundation for our future, ensuring we can continue our mission of “nurses helping nurses” with greater stability and long-term vision. The most significant change this year was our physical move and transition to full independence from the Center for Nursing in June. While our partnership has been invaluable, the move marks a new chapter of self-sufficiency for Nurses House. We have fully settled into our new office space and ask you to please update your records to: 22 Century Hill Dr, Suite 101, Latham, NY 12110.

We are proud to announce another landmark achievement in 2025. In September, Nurses House was officially granted public charity status by the IRS. With applications for assistance rising, this designation is an important step in securing our long-term sustainability and expanding our reach. It unlocks critical new avenues for funding, allowing us to apply for grants from major foundations, many of which exclusively fund public charities.

At the ANA-NY conference in October, Nurses House held its annual fundraiser walk. The walk was dedicated to longtime ANA-NY and Nurses House supporter Linda O’Brien. The event was a wonderful success, as always, thanks to the collective effort of everyone involved. In total, $2,489 was raised by ANA-NY members at the conference and 15 individuals joined the walk. We extend our heartfelt thanks to each participant, donor, and the leadership at ANA-NY for making this event possible. Special thanks to Tanya Drake for donating the tee shirts for the walk. In honor of her profound dedication and unwavering support for our mission, we are proud to announce that after the event the Board of Directors officially renamed the annual walk “Linda O’Brien Memorial Walk.” Linda was a tireless volunteer and mentor who embodied the spirit of “nurses helping nurses.” Her commitment to her colleagues was an inspiration to all who knew her, and this tribute serves as a lasting recognition of her legacy within the Nurses House community.

As we build on the momentum of 2025, we invite you to take an active role in guiding our organization by joining our volunteer board of directors or one of our committees. The strength of Nurses House has always been its dedicated community, and we are seeking passionate individuals to help lead us into our next chapter. This is a great opportunity to provide your expertise and help steer the future of an organization committed to supporting our colleagues. If you’d like to join our board or a committee, please contact us at mail@nurseshouse.org for more information.
