In today’s evolving healthcare environment, collaboration among nurses is more essential than ever to improve patient outcomes across Oklahoma. From statewide events to daily workplace initiatives, nurses are coming together to share knowledge, influence health policy, and drive positive changes. These collaborative efforts are not only enhancing patient care but also promoting a culture of teamwork that creates a ripple effect throughout the state’s healthcare system.

ONA Annual Convention

The ONA Annual Convention serves as a platform for innovation and connection, bringing together professionals from all specialties to share expertise, build networks, and advance the profession. Presenters and panels offer insights into topics like patient safety and evidence-based practices, while networking opportunities lead to lasting professional connections.

This year’s convention, Moving Nursing Forward, is designed to equip nurses at every level to lead change and drive improvement in healthcare.

Nurses Day at the Capitol

This annual event strengthens the role of nurses in policymaking. Direct engagement with legislators gives nurses a chance to share real-world insights, while advocacy workshops build communication skills for influencing healthcare legislation. Collaboration with other healthcare professionals at the Capitol reinforces the importance of team-based care in shaping effective policies. This events also amplifies the nursing voice, allowing unified advocacy on statewide health issues.

Workplace Collaboration

Nurses contribute to improved patient outcomes through interdisciplinary team meetings, shared governance models, and quality improvement projects. These everyday practices ensure that nurses have a voice in decisions, boost morale, and promote comprehensive, patient-centered care.

As healthcare continues to evolve, the importance of effective collaboration among nursing professionals cannot be overstated. One powerful way to engage in this collaboration is through active involvement with the Oklahoma Nurses Association (ONA). I invite you to join us on September 24–25 in Norman for the ONA Annual Convention, where we’ll come together under the theme Moving Nursing Forward.

By uniting our efforts, whether through advocacy, academic partnerships, or local initiatives, we are fostering collaboration among nurses for optimal health outcomes across the state.
