My name is Halli Tiptop. I currently serve as the Membership Development Director on the Oklahoma Nurses Association (ONA) Board of Directors and I’m writing to invite you to become a member of ONA. As nurses, we understand that change doesn’t happen without collective action. ONA is stronger with each new member, and together, we can advocate for improvements in healthcare and our profession. If you’re passionate about making a difference and shaping the future of nursing in Oklahoma, I encourage you to join us.
Our mission is empowering nurses to improve healthcare in all specialties and practice settings by working as a community of professional nurses.
Be a Voice for Shaping the Future of Nursing
As healthcare providers on the frontlines, nurses possess a unique perspective that is critical for making informed, effective healthcare decisions. Becoming a member gives you the opportunity to play an active role in advocating for legislation that directly affects Oklahomans.
Professional Development
While it’s essential to be part of specialty-driven organizations, ONA is dedicated to the generalist. ONA connects nurses of all different backgrounds and specialties, addressing issues that affect the profession as a whole. This is an opportunity for mentorship, leadership, and learning how to make public health changes at the state level.
Building Connections
As nurses, we understand the importance of teamwork and the strength that comes from connecting with others who share our values and goals. ONA helps connect nurses across the state who share a common mission to improve healthcare for Oklahomans.
Direct Impact on Your Practice
For those of you, like myself, who are looking for ONA’s direct impact on your practice, here’s how they’ve made a difference:
As a new, breastfeeding mom, I am thankful for ONA’s efforts in securing the legal right for me to breastfeed in public.
For APRNs (Advanced Practice Registered Nurses), ONA is actively working to eliminate barriers to practice and advance the role of APRNs in Oklahoma, ensuring they have the autonomy to provide high-quality care.
For OR nurses, ONA is dedicated to addressing the ongoing issue of surgical smoke.
For ALL nurses, ONA advocates for a culture of safety, including improving incivility in the workplace and ensuring the safe reporting of errors.
Join Us in Building a Stronger Healthcare System
Together, we can continue to build a stronger, safer healthcare system for Oklahomans and ensure that the voice of nurses is heard in key decisions. I hope you will take this opportunity to become part of ONA and join a network of nurses dedicated to advocacy, professional development, and meaningful change.
Thank you for considering ONA as your professional home—I look forward to welcoming you as a member.
