The Nebraska Nurses Association hosted its 2025 Annual Convention on October 2–3 at the beautiful Younes Conference Center in Kearney, Nebraska, where more than 150 nurses from across the state gathered for two inspiring days of connection, learning, and celebration.

This year’s theme, “Storytelling, Leadership, and Advocacy,” invited nurses to reflect on the power of their voices and experiences in shaping the future of healthcare. Through impactful presentations and meaningful conversations, attendees explored how sharing our stories strengthens leadership, drives advocacy, and unites us as a profession.

A highlight of the convention was hearing from Dr. Ernest Grant, past president of the American Nurses Association, whose words inspired attendees to lead with authenticity and courage. Participants also viewed the powerful documentary Everybody’s Work, followed by a thoughtful panel discussion that brought nurse leaders together to reflect on the challenges and opportunities facing nursing today.

The convention also celebrated excellence through the recognition of our prestigious NNA Award recipients and the 2025 class of “40 Under 40” Nurse Leaders. These remarkable individuals embody the spirit of leadership and advocacy that defines Nebraska nursing.

“This year’s convention truly captured the heart of nursing—our ability to lead, to advocate, and to share our stories in ways that make a lasting impact,” said Megan Lowery, MSN, RN, Executive Director of the Nebraska Nurses Association. “I left feeling inspired and deeply proud of the nurses who make a difference in every corner of our state.”

As the Nebraska Nurses Association looks ahead, the energy and engagement from this year’s event reaffirm our shared commitment to championing nurses’ voices and advancing the profession we all love.
