Just like Taylor, ANA-NY has eras! The leader of our Advocacy Era has been our out-going President, Dr. Marilyn Dollinger. Under President Dollinger’s leadership ANA-NY has held in-person and grassroots advocacy days with our state legislators leading to the passing of the Safe Staffing, Ban on Flavored Tobacco, and Simulation in Nursing Education laws; additionally, we now have our very first ANA-NY initiated two-house bill. She proposed and helped launch the ANA-NY Political Action Committee (ANA-NY PAC). She has initiated and shepherded five Special Interest Groups (SIGS) developed around member suggested topics; a monthly meeting with our Organizational Affiliates (OAs) around legislative issues; and, picking up from our 2023 conference theme, a Health Equity Task Force. Although she will be greatly missed as our Board President, we know that Dr. Dollinger will continue to be an active and engaged member of ANA-NY. Please join me in thanking her for her vision and innovation for ANA-NY.
I look forward to continuing the work of Dr. Dollinger and can’t wait to see what our next era brings – and no tortured EDs!
