On the evening of June 3rd, MNA District 9 held its highly anticipated annual Spring Dinner at Prime Street Grill in White Plains, Maryland. The event was marked with a culinary experience, with attendees savoring a choice of crab cake, chicken Chesapeake, salmon, or New York strip, accompanied by potatoes and green beans.
The highlight of the evening was a compelling presentation by Kara Curry, Senior Policy Advisor at ANA, who introduced the new 2025 Code of Ethics. Curry provided an in-depth overview of the code’s development and its implications for various facets of nursing care delivery. She also shared practical examples and personal experiences to illustrate the application of the code in real-world scenarios.
The event was graced by the presence of notable figures, including MNA’s Executive Director, Dr. Barbara Bierdrzycki; Laural Brinkley, Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) of Calvert Health; and Dr. Karen Wyche-Latham, CNO of MedStar Southern Maryland Hospital Center, among others. A special moment of the evening was the presentation of the District’s Nursing Student of the Quarter award, which was bestowed upon Jazlyn Hernandez.
The Spring Dinner not only celebrated the achievements within the nursing community but also fostered a spirit of camaraderie and professional growth among its members.
