2025 Healing Politics Campaign School for Nurses & Midwives

When I stepped into the Healing Politics Campaign School, I didn’t just enter a room, I stepped into my purpose.

From day one, we were immersed in the fundamentals of campaign planning and budgeting. But more than that, I felt an unmistakable sense of alignment. It was soul-affirming. Every session confirmed that my journey as a nurse, educator, and advocate had prepared me for leadership in public office. I wasn’t just learning, I was remembering to trust what I already knew.

Trailblazing nurse legislators like Sen. Gale Adcock, Sen. Liz Boldon, Sen. Kristen Roars, and Dr. Bethany Hall-Long spoke with power and vulnerability. Their stories reminded us that nurses don’t wait to be invited to the table; they bring their own chairs. They proved that voice, values, and lived experience are more than enough to shape meaningful policy.

On day two, we leaned into the art of storytelling, building relationships, and navigating the complex world of fundraising. I found myself surrounded by 33 peers from 17 states; nurses deeply committed to advocacy and equity. This day I came to the conclusion that “Sometimes, it’s not about what we don’t know, but about trusting what we do”

Day three reminded me that this is only the beginning. Through sessions on voter engagement and SMART goal setting, skills I’ve honed as a nurse educator, I felt empowered to turn vision into action. I left with more than a certificate in hand, but a heart full of gratitude, and a network of fierce nurse leaders who uplift and inspire.

For me, Healing Politics wasn’t just training, it was a homecoming. I’m proud to be part of a growing movement that’s shaping HERstory. And as I continue this path, I carry the belief that nurses belong in every room where decisions are made.

A huge thank you to Kimberly Gordon, Lisa Summers, and everyone who made this journey possible. I will forever bet on myself, and on nurses everywhere.

If anyone is considering managing a campaign or running for office, I encourage you to apply to the 2026 training.

Don’t just march, run for something!
