Nurses in Action: Upcoming Activities and Recap

Share
By: Nan Morgan, MS, RN

In partnership with the Colorado Nurses Association and several members of our nursing Constituent Associations (CAs) (Nurses in Action, Nurses Furthering Knowledge) along with GAPP, CNA Executive Directors and CNA’s Board of Directors, we want to acknowledge the most recent and successful Nurses Day at the Capitol in February. This was a sold-out event and the first time to have the option for Nursing Continuing Professional Development (NCPD) contact hours. Congratulations!

Working together again, by the time this publication arrives, we should have celebrated Spring with our opportunity to participate in the St. Patrick’s Day Parade celebrating NURSES. Hopefully you were able to attend one or both past activities. Watch for photos.

Still upcoming is Rockies baseball, again several parts of CNA coming together to enjoy the “Boys of Summer” and a home stand with Healthcare Appreciation Week, May 6 – 11. This year, the Rockies are offering a limited-edition lunch bag when you purchase your tickets through the special ticket link. Tickets to attend the game on May 9 include recognition of nurses in our role supporting healthcare. Historically, Nurses in Action look for seats in section 328 behind HOME plate.  Nurses Furthering Knowledge uses the Mother’s Day game as a connection for their Constituent Association and try to buy their tickets in section 204. The ticket link allows you to buy tickets throughout the stadium and all ticket prices.

Best of all, using the Rockies link provides money toward scholarships for all levels of education through the Colorado Nurses Foundation. It is a win-win and maybe even a 3rd win for all. Win for a day at a baseball game, win for supporting nursing scholarships and that third win? Go ROCKIES and Win!

The Eleanor Bent Scholarship has been funded by Nurses in Action under the DNA 16 name for many years. Ms. Bent was a long-time member who strongly endorsed the support of men in nursing. This year, there is the opportunity for anyone to donate to this scholarship directly through the Colorado Nurses Foundation website. We are halfway to our goal of funding a $2000 award in her name.
