Fall is fast approaching and here at SCNF we are ready to award more scholarships but first we want to thank everyone who gave during Midlands Gives. We received over $5,000 with an additional $2,000 for the most unique donors during one of the Power Hours for a small organization. These funds will help us fulfill our mission and support scholarships. Speaking of scholarships, this is the time to start preparing for the Palmetto Gold scholarships along with nominations of 100 nurses for excellence in nursing. The process will start in September, and we are ready to help again ease the financial costs of both undergraduate and graduate nursing students from the Palmetto Gold scholarships. These scholarships, along with recognizing 100 nurses throughout the state for excellence in nursing, will be presented at the Palmetto Gold Gala on April 24, 2027.
The awarding of these scholarships is not possible without the assistance from our community. We need your help in fulfilling our mission to promote high standards of healthcare by the advancement of the nursing profession through scholarships, grants, awards, and programs of excellence. Helping us in this endeavor is simple. We have several initiatives that one can donate to throughout the year. One is the Nurses Cares License Plate initiative that goes on year-round. It provides funds for scholarships for nurses and student nurses. You can go directly to Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) website at http://scdmvonline.com.
However, the opportunities to raise funds for scholarships does not stop there. You can also donate anytime to “Friends of the Foundation”. This is another way to support the mission of SCNF. These donations honor a nursing colleague and help offset the operating costs for SCNF. Please help us provide more scholarships and even increase the amounts of the scholarships by donating to SCNF. To learn more about ways you can donate, please visit our social media pages or our website at www.scnursesfoundation.org.
Be sure to visit us at the South Carolina Nurses Association (SCNA) Annual Convention which is being held at the Hyatt Regency in Greenville this October. We will be on hand to accept donations to support the foundation’s mission and provide nurses and student nurses with the funds they need to realize their dreams. It will be an exciting event where SCNF will present its annual report to SCNA Board of Directors.
Let’s not forget Giving Tuesday that will be on December 1ST. This is an international day of giving held after Thanksgiving to encourage giving back to support charitable causes. Be sure to select SCNF!
We hope everyone has a great start to this beautiful season with the leaves turning and the fall semester gearing up. Please consider donating today and pay it forward for future nurses and advanced practice nurses. Our community needs more of each as we try to elevate healthcare in our state.
Be sure to follow us on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. SCNF is here for the future of nursing!
