Oklahoma Nurses Student Association Annual Report

By: Oklahoma Nurses Assocation

This year, the Oklahoma Nurses Student Association (ONSA) continued its focus on growth, sustainability, and outreach. The ONSA Board worked closely with the National Student Nurses Association (NSNA) to strengthen our knowledge of operations and to advance ONSA into a more flourishing organization. Their efforts have been highly successful.

A significant step forward was obtaining tax-exempt status, which opens the door for greater fundraising opportunities. The Board also established important infrastructure by securing a bank account and PO Box, ensuring membership funds are directed safely and directly to ONSA.

Additionally, the Board began expanding outreach to school-level Student Nurses Associations (SNAs) to foster stronger connections across the state. This commitment to collaboration has helped build a stronger network for student nurses in Oklahoma.

The Board also demonstrated strong support for key events, including:

  • ONA Fall 2024 Bootcamp
  • Nurse’s Day at the Capitol
  • ONA Fall 2025 Bootcamp at the ONA Convention

Beyond organizational accomplishments, several Board members successfully balanced leadership with academics, with some celebrating the major milestone of passing their NCLEX. Their dedication reflects the strength of the next generation of nurses.

I also want to extend my heartfelt gratitude to the Oklahoma Nurses Association (ONA) and the ONA Board for their years of unwavering support to both myself and ONSA. It has been an honor and privilege to serve as Consultant to the ONSA Board. Being part of the professional development of our future nurses has been a truly remarkable journey. I will look back on my tenure as the consultant with pride and honor I had to serve.

With the progress made this year, I am confident ONSA is in capable hands and will continue moving forward to enrich the experience of nursing students across the great state of Oklahoma.
