Missouri legislative session

Hello MONA members,

In Missouri our legislative session runs from January through mid-May. The action really starts in December with the prefiling period. Although January through May is not a very big window of time, it is our opportunity to make state level legislative changes for the benefit of your profession.  If we come together and speak with one strong voice, we can make a difference.

MONA is working on a variety of issues this session including: APRN issues, Workplace Violence, Criminal Liability, Access to Care, Safety and more.

There are three ways you can help strengthen our advocacy this session.  The first is joining MONA at the Capitol.  We have a variety of days at the Capitol scheduled on our website.  You can find those events here: https://members.missourinurses.org/calendar

I would encourage you to try to make it to the Capitol this session.  Face to face conversations and hearing directly from constituents is the best way to gain support from legislators.  We offer a friendly environment with training provided.

If you can’t make it to the Capitol, consider the Nurse Liaison Program.  You can learn more about that program here: https://missourinurses.org/nurse-liaison-program/

Once you fill out the form, I will add you to a weekly email list with action items you can complete from the comfort of your home and on your own schedule.

Finally, check out the MONA Action Center: https://missourinurses.org/action/

This link will house the MONA action alerts as bills move through the legislative process.  Check back frequently because actions will be added and updated throughout session.

Your voice matters.  I look forward to working with you this legislative session to advance MONA’s legislative agenda. Feel free to reach out to me by  email at jack@missourinurses.org with any questions.

Thanks,

Jack Seigel
