Welcome spring – a time of renewal and spending more time outdoors! Here at the South Carolina Nurses Foundation (SCNF), we have several special events in the works for this spring. First is the Palmetto Gold Gala on Saturday, April 11, 2026 at the Columbia Metropolitan Convention Center. Registration is currently underway for this event where 100 nurses across the state will be recognized for their excellence in the nursing profession. Additionally, both undergraduate and graduate scholarships will be awarded to nursing students across South Carolina.

Regarding scholarships, the SCNF will be accepting applications for the Nurses Cares scholarships until April 15. These scholarships are funded by from the License Plate initiative. Please see below on how to get your license plate that supports these scholarships.

Other events this spring include Midlands Gives on Tuesday, May 5, 2026 and the Nurses 5K Run/Walk on Saturday, May 30, 2026. With either event you can donate to SCNF and help provide scholarships and further advance the mission of SCNF. The Nurses 5K which is a joint venture between SCNA and SCNF offers both runners and walkers an opportunity to help support SCNF with 50% of the profits going to support the mission of SCNF. This will be the third year and it’s a fun event held in Forest Acres area of Columbia. We would love to have more nurses and others participating in this year’s event.

As you likely know, South Carolina needs more nurses and research studies have demonstrated time after time that the better prepared the nurse the better the outcomes for patients. We encourage you to consider donating to SCNF. This can be done many ways: the donate button on the SCNF website at: www.scnursesfoundation.org, the license plate initiative available through the South Carolina Department of Motor Vehicles available at www.scdmvonline.com or becoming a “Friends of the Foundation” (available on the SCNF website).

All board members of SCNF are volunteers. We work hard to help nurses but this cannot be done without you! Remember: South Carolina needs nurses and SCNF needs donations to give more nurses scholarships. Please donate today and visit our website at www.scnursesfoundation.org
