2025 Accomplishments

  • Completed the biennial review of the current ANA-Ohio Bylaws and formulated and submitted amendments for voting at the 2025 ANA-Ohio Annual Meeting.
  • Reviewed proposed amendments from the Board and Committees, consulted with the Board President and committee chairpersons regarding amendments, and prepared and presented amendments for voting at the ANA-Ohio Annual Meeting.
  • Communicated proposed bylaws amendments to the ANA Committee on Bylaws including those recommended by that Committee as well as to the membership via newsletter, e-mail and forums.
  • Developed a “Bylaws Succession Plan” for the Committee chair position and developed position descriptions for the Vice-Chairperson and Member positions.
  • Revised the written bylaws document following approval forwarding it to the American Nurses Association and having it posted on the ANA-Ohio website

2026 Goals

  1. Review the Committee Charter for any changes.
  2. Review and prepare proposed amendments from the membership and Committees including those related to the newly developing ANA-Ohio Foundation in preparation for the Fall 2026 Annual Meeting.
  3. Review the ANA 2025 Bylaws changes having implications for the ANA-Ohio Bylaws and prepare amendments as appropriate.
  4. Communicate (via e-mail, website, forums etc.) with the ANA-Ohio Board, the ANA-Committee on Bylaws, and the membership regarding proposed changes to the ANA-Ohio Bylaws to be voted on in 2026.
  5. Make efforts to fill an open member position on the ANA-Ohio Bylaws Committee with the goal of representation from across the State.
  6. Review Bylaws Policies and Procedures and send to the ANA-Ohio Board of Directors for approval.

2025 Accomplishments

  • Provided continuing education for 13 programs attended by 360 nurses for 16 contact hours. This does not include the organizational programs where the Accredited Provider Program Director (APPD) facilitated contact hours for the group planning the program, such as the Annual Meeting, Organization Summit(s), Boot Camp, etc.
  • Provided three programs on equity, diversity, and inclusion and six programs on pharmacology.
  • Implemented succession plan by identifying new committee chair/vice chair, who assumed their roles in January of 2025.
  • Continued to tape live sessions to prepare for a future CE library.
  • Developed needs assessment survey to be distributed in August and September of 2025.

2026 Goals

  1. Tape all live programs and continue to develop a CE library of enduring programs in the learning management system (LMS), including an advertising strategy to alert both members and non-members on how to access enduring activities.
  2. Continue to provide at least two activities each year to address equity diversity, and inclusion and explore collaboration with EDI committee for book club offering contact hours.
  3. Develop an inclusive email list to send advertisements of upcoming programs beyond ANA-Ohio members (nursing schools, health care facilities, other nursing groups, etc.).
  4. APPD Goal – Submit reaccreditation application to ANCC to renew our Nursing Continuing Professional Development (NCPD) providership.
  5. APPD Goal – Continue to support the annual meeting and other organizational programs for contact hours.
  6. APPD Goal – Begin investigating the feasibility of becoming an ANCC-accredited approver of nursing continuing professional development.

  • Developed a partnership with a minority nursing association in Ohio.
  • Presented a continuing education program on an EDI topic.
  • Ensured ANA-Ohio’s efforts are inclusive of all aspects of diversity, including ethnicity, disability, gender identity, and socio-economic factors for nurses.
  • EDI members shared their stories for the ANA-Ohio Monday Member Spotlight.
  • Increased EDI social media awareness and celebratory posts.

2026 Goals 

  1. Launch Inclusive Practice Story Submission Form and feature ANA Ohio member stories.
  2. Identify 1–2 statewide community engagement events for EDI participation.
  3. Continued Member Monday and monthly social media awareness campaigns.
  4. 2026 CE Program collaboration featuring The Black Angels: The Untold Story of the Nurses Who Helped Cure Tuberculosis.

2025 Accomplishments

  • Monitored the current budget monthly to assure ongoing protection of ANA-Ohio assets and compliance with reporting requirements while supporting and enabling all committees and SIGs with the fiscal resources necessary to conduct their activities.
  • Successfully applied for and secured 501c3 non-profit status for the ANA-Ohio Foundation.
  • Worked on plans to increase non-dues revenue streams for ANA-Ohio including initiation of branded merchandise sales.
  • Reviewed and updated the Finance Committee Charter and all fiscal policies, and initiated development of an investments policy.
  • Agreed to serve as the Interim Finance Committee for the ANA-Ohio Foundation.

2026 Goals

  1. Continue to monitor financial resources monthly in accord with the Finance Committee Charter and the ANA-Ohio Strategic Plan.
  2. Conduct separate meetings of the ANA-Ohio Foundation Interim Finance Committee.
  3. Implement Committee Leadership Succession Plan with new Committee Chair Ken Fry and identification of candidates to run for election as ANA-Ohio Treasurer.
  4. Complete development of Investments Policy.
  5. Continue development of non-dues revenue streams and Champions of Nursing Sponsorship Plan.

2025 Accomplishments

  • Recreated third panel of display board highlighting achievements of past year. Set up 3-panel display board at Annual meeting (highlighting history and past year achievements of ANA-Ohio).
  • Developed and submitted Legacy Cmte Charter, Board approved.
  • Submitted an article by Donna Curry to the ANA-Ohio News Journal (Story behind the RN), not accepted. Reviewed criteria for articles and will submit another article in future.
  • Created a spreadsheet on how each ONA Structural Unit (District) closed to determine how each preserved their history. Creating an outline on what and how to preserve history for ANA-Ohio leadership and committees/SIGs.
  • Determined what ONA Past President, Executive Director, and other ONA leader interviews are being stored by OSU Nursing Archives and helped identify names of nurses in pictures being preserved by ANA-Ohio.

2026 Goals

  1. Display 3-panel history poster at Annual Meeting, events, or online. (The first two panels are already created and the third panel is changed annually to reflect what was achieved during the previous year. Consider making a handout to accompany the display reflecting the achievements of the previous year. Evaluate the expense of creating a permanent display of the first two panels, which portray the history of ANA-Ohio.)
  2. Develop an education plan for structural units within ANA-Ohio and for individual nurses on preserving nursing historical documents and memorabilia. (Create an outline guide on preserving historical documents and memorabilia. Create a PowerPoint presentation on preserving historical documents and memorabilia. Develop a process for picture identification [date, event, individual(s)]. Write an article for the ANA-Ohio News Journal on what should be archived.)
  3. Write historically significant articles and submit to the ANA-Ohio News Journal.

2025 Accomplishments

  • ANA-Ohio membership recruitment increased by 23%.
  • President Patton facilitated seven virtual regional forums throughout the state.
  • Two regional special interest groups were established – NE Ohio SIG and NW Ohio SIG.
  • ANA-Ohio outreach included tables at 10 conferences and multiple speaking engagements.
  • ANA-Ohio hosted two Ohio Nursing Organizations Leadership Summit.

2026 Goals

  1. Increase ANA-Ohio membership recruitment by a minimum of 5% by June 2026 based on current membership.
  2. Seek collaboration opportunities to increase retention by 5% by June 2026 based on current membership.
  3. Sponsor at least one Ohio Nursing Organizations Leadership Summit by June 2026.
  4. Create opportunities to interact with faculty and students.

  • Collaboration with OBN regarding website updates (initial discussion with OBN regarding needs/committee thoughts regarding website navigation and difficulties interpreting Ohio Law and Rule for nurses, promotion of ANA-Ohio membership participation and committee participation in OBN listening sessions and multiple website feedback activities). Additionally, collaboration with OBN to co-present CE to share about collaborative nature of licensing board and new website design (scheduled for October 14, 2025) .
  • Development of story board and plan for creation of 2 social media mini-education videos regarding professionalism/professional practice issues with focus on new grads—Avoiding Shortcuts and Situational Awareness/Workplace Safety—aim to incorporate diversity in videos (waiting on actual development/distribution with assistance of graphic designer) .
  • Bylaws review/amendments submitted including recommendation to become a standing meeting within ANA-Ohio and adjust name Professional Nursing Practice Committee (PNPC) to avoid confusion with Public Policy Committee (PPC).
  • Collaboration with OhSNA and statewide health systems/transition to practice programs regarding mini-education offerings priority needs.
  • Identify liaison from committee for ongoing open communication/collaboration with OBN and OhSNA.

2026 Goals

  1. Finalize creation of two social media mini-education videos incorporating diversity and distribute via social media and learning management system for future reference/use.
  2. In collaboration with the OBN, provide updates to membership regarding official regulatory changes via social media, newsletter, and/or community page.
  3. Seek membership input regarding issues/concerns/needs in practice.
  4. Collaborate with CE group to identify needs suggested for CE events the professional practice committee might also address through other outlets.
  5. Survey membership (community page, journal, social media) and other Ohio Nurses.
  6. Analyze data, present findings within ANA-Ohio and disseminate via national     publication/presentation.
  7. Continue to collaborate with OBN and OhSNA through liaison regarding changes/ongoing needs related to professional practice.

2025 Accomplishments

  • PCOM has worked with HealthCom Media (HCM) to produce the ANA-Ohio News Journal. The journal is mailed to all members quarterly and emailed to all nurses in the state.
  • PCOM has worked with the Executive Director to develop structures for members to submit information for social media posts, guidelines for News Journal publications, and information for email “Member Updates”.
  • PCOM has worked with the Executive Director to develop and evolve the ANA-Ohio website.
  • PCOM continues to promote ANA-Ohio offerings and members through social media. All social media channels have grown in followers. LinkedIn followings have doubled in this last year, which includes followers from across the state, country, and international locations.

2026 Goals

  1. Continue to work with HCM to produce four issues of the ANA-Ohio News Journal annually.
  2. Work with the Executive Director to refine a publication portal with publication guidelines and author information.This portal will serve to invite a broader group of authors and a wider variety of topics.
  3. Continue a robust social media presence to facilitate communication with members and provide member recognition.
  4. Analyze website, social media, and News Journal data to inform decisions and future directions.

2025 Accomplishments

  • Planned and facilitated a Nurse Policy Influencers Bootcamp with both didactic and clinical components held early in 2025. The Bootcamp prepares nurses to be more effective policy advocates for the profession of nursing. The clinical opportunities are unique to this program. It attracted attention and interest from nursing organizations across the country. Those who completed the rigorous Bootcamp have the ongoing support from ANA-Ohio PPC members as they put into practice the outreach and advocacy tactics and strategies learned in the Bootcamp.
  • Provided regular legislative updates on ANA-Ohio’s website regarding public policy matters.
  • Developed numerous position statements and a white paper available on ANA-Ohio’s website.
  • Provided testimony at the Ohio Statehouse in support of House Bill 508 — legislation that would eliminate the mandatory standard care arrangement for APRNs in Ohio.
  • Collaborated with FAAN SIG for Annual Meeting presentation — Is Voting an Endangered Species?

2026 Goals

  1. Increase ANA-Ohio’s visibility and presence at the Ohio Statehouse.
  2. Maintain up-to-date website information on Ohio bills and other issues relative to ANA-Ohio’s legislative priorities.
  3. Plan and facilitate the 2026 Nurse Policy Influencers Bootcamp.
  4. Plan and facilitate the 2026 Jeri Milstead Public Policy Symposium
