Summer is here and at the South Carolina Nurses Foundation (SCNF), we are ready for it!  We had a great time at the Palmetto Gold Gala on April 11.  It was a huge success and honored 100 nurses throughout the state for excellence in the profession as well as, provided scholarships to nursing students.  As you may be aware, our profession is the most trusted one and has been for 24 years now.  That is quite an amazing feat!  Here at SCNF we are committed to continue advancing the profession of nursing by providing undergraduate and graduate nursing students in South Carolina scholarships. SCNF recently received applicants for our Nurses Care scholarships. The applications included some real financial needs as student nurses continue their education to become future nurses or advanced practice nurses. At SCNF, we have been able to award more scholarships and increase the amount of the scholarships based on revenue generated from the Nurse Care License Plate Initiative. Please see below how one can purchase this unique license plate.

The nominations for Palmetto Gold will start in September of 2026 and we are ready to help again ease the financial costs of both undergraduate and graduate nursing students by provision of the Palmetto Gold scholarships. These scholarships, along with recognizing 100 nurses throughout the state for excellence in nursing will be presented at the Palmetto Gold Gala in the Spring of 2027.

This past spring, SCNF was pleased to participate in two events. One was Midlands Gives held on May 5 that is a designated day of giving and the other was the Nurses 5K held on May 30 that is a joint collaboration with SCNA. The Nurses 5K was a fun event that gave the profits to SCNF.  Please visit our website to view pictures of the event.

SCNF wants to continue providing scholarships and even increase the number of scholarships but we need your help in reaching our goals. So how can you help us reach our goals and fulfill our mission to promote high standards of healthcare by assisting the advancement of the nursing profession through scholarships, grants, awards, and programs of excellence. One way is the Nurses Care License Plate Initiative. This is a special license plate available through the South Carolina Department of Motor Vehicles. Proceeds from the sale of the license plates support nursing scholarships. One can visit the DMV website at http://scdmvonline.com to obtain the “Nurses Cares” license plate. “Friends of the Foundation” is another way to donate and support the mission of SCNF. These donations honor a nursing colleague and help offset the operating costs for SCNF. Please visit our website at www.scnursesfoundation.org .

Tips through Zeffy are 100% optional. After selecting your donation amount, select “other” in the drop-down list to change the amount or enter $0 to opt out.

All contributions to the South Carolina Nurses Foundation are tax deductible to the extent the law allows.

Be sure to follow us on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. SCNF is here for the future of nursing!
