11th Annual FNA Nursing Research & Evidence-Based Practice Conference Recap

The Florida Nurses Association hosted its 11th Annual Nursing Research and Evidence-Based Practice Conference on July 26, 2025, at the historic Harry P. Leu Gardens in Orlando. This year’s event brought together nurses from across Florida for a day of learning, collaboration, and celebration of innovation in nursing research.

The day kicked off with a forward-thinking keynote presentation by Lisiane Pruinelli, PhD, MS, RN, FAMIA. Her presentation, “Beyond the Evidence: Shaping the Future of Care with AI and Nursing Insight,” challenged attendees to think critically about the evolving role of technology in nursing, particularly the integration of artificial intelligence to enhance patient care while preserving human insight.

Throughout the day, attendees enjoyed thought-provoking podium presentations covering a wide range of research:

George Ngo, DNP, RN, NE-BC, CNML, shared strategies for “Implementing Skill Building and Peer Support Interventions to Improve Resiliency in Frontline Nurse Managers,” emphasizing mentorship and peer support systems for building resiliency.

Lorraine Novosel, PhD, RN, APRN, presented a detailed psychometric analysis of the ProQOL-21, exploring its validity as a tool to measure the professional quality of life in nursing.

Ilana Logvinov, DNP, RN, explored frailty through a unique lens in “Understanding Frailty through the Eyes of Perianesthesia Nurses to Shape Policy and Practice.”

Tamara Boneta, DNP, RN, CNE, and Melissa Brace, DNP, APRN, FNP-BC, CCRN engaged the audience with innovative approaches to education in their session “Enhancing Undergraduate Nursing Education with Low-Fidelity Simulation, Gamification, and Escape Room Activities.”

The conference featured two lively poster sessions, giving attendees the opportunity to browse research, quality improvement, and evidence-based practice projects across various nursing domains.

The day concluded with exploring the many pathways that a career in nursing research can go. Cheryl Krause-Parello, PhD, RN, FAAN reflected on her personal journey and several attendees shared their own stories while encouraging remain curious, resilient, and committed to advancing the science of nursing throughout their careers.

The 2025 conference reinforced FNA’s dedication to providing a platform for dissemination of nurse-led innovation and served as a testament to the power of nursing research in shaping the future of healthcare.
