ANA‑Michigan Annual Virtual Membership Assembly Highlights

The American Nurses Association–Michigan (ANA‑MI) held its Annual Virtual Membership Assembly on Monday, April 27, bringing members together from across the state to reflect on the association’s progress, hear leadership updates, and mark important leadership transitions.

The Assembly featured reports from association leadership and the announcement of the 2026 Leadership Election results. Members also celebrated the welcoming of new board members and the formal passing of the gavel to Bethany S. Campbell, MPA, BSN, RN, who was installed as the incoming President of ANA‑Michigan.

Several newly elected leaders were welcomed to the Board of Directors, each bringing valuable perspectives and expertise to advance the association’s mission:

  • President‑Elect: Maria Bobo, DNP, RN, WHNP‑BC, CENP, NPD‑BC
  • Director: James Johnston, DNP, RN, AGACNP-BC
  • Director & Nominations Committee: Rachelle Willits, MSN, PMHNP‑BC
  • Newly Licensed Director: Nicholas Collinsworth, BSN, RN, EMT‑P, CEN

The Assembly also provided an opportunity to recognize the service and leadership of Dr. Barbara Medvec, who completed her term as President following two years of impactful service. During her presidency, Dr. Medvec led the development of a three‑year strategic plan, strengthened leadership partnerships, and served as Interim Executive Director during a significant organizational transition. She will continue to support ANA‑MI in her role as Past President.

Additionally, ANA‑MI expressed its gratitude to outgoing board members whose dedication and service have contributed to the association’s growth and governance:

  • President: Barbara Medvec, DNP, RN, MSA, MSN, NEA‑BC
  • Director: Maria Bobo, DNP, RN, WHNP‑BC, CENP, NPD‑BC
  • Director: Joseph Current, MSN/Ed, RN, SWOC, IP
  • Newly Licensed Director: Jakob Schmid, MSN, RN, SCRN

Their collective efforts have supported ANA‑MI’s work to advance nursing practice, leadership development, and member engagement statewide.

Through collaborative leadership and engaged membership, ANA‑MI continues to move forward on behalf of nurses and the communities they serve.
