I occupy a leadership role that places me at the decision-making table for complex, often politically sensitive discussions. In this position, I’m exposed to perspectives and deliberative processes that can be uncomfortable, at times, revealing “how the sausage is made.” While some of the financial and administrative decisions under consideration may directly affect the nurses I represent, many of these conversations occur in executive session and require strict confidentiality. Notably, I’m also the sole nurse participating in these discussions. Given these circumstances, I’m seeking guidance on maintaining personal integrity and ethical boundaries in these deliberations.
