Turning a personal crisis into a career shift

A nurse leader now focused on workforce well-being and stability, Nickia Jackson, MSN, RN, has spent more than 25 years watching nurses put everyone else’s needs before their own. Recognizing this behavior in herself is the reason she initially got into coaching. Her 25-year career path led her from critical care into patient safety. However, when the COVID-19 pandemic hit, she found herself back in critical care nursing after being away from it for 10 years. The weight of the pandemic and the stress of the job hit her hard, and she suppressed how she felt to care for her family and patients.
