Less transfused blood doesn’t affect surgical mortality

Patients receiving liberal blood transfusions and those receiving smaller amounts have similar rates of postsurgical mortality, according to a study in The Lancet. The study supports the trend towards smaller transfusions. Read more  and read the study abstract.
