This column could be filled many times over with stories of nurses who’ve experienced workplace violence, but I’d like to highlight these four: Doug Brant—Shot at a patient’s home in Spokane, WA. Leelamma Lal—Attacked in a West Palm Beach, FL, hospital. June Onkundi—Stabbed outside of a Durham, NC, clinic.
Lynne Truxillo—Stepped in to protect a colleague and was brutally beaten, dying 5 days later in the same Baton Rouge, FL, hospital where she was attacked.
