By: Julie Cullen, Managing Editor, American Nurse Today

It’s National Handwashing Awareness Week, so what better time to remind everyone about the importance of hand hygiene to help prevent the spread of infection?  The American Nurses Association/Association for Professionals in Infection Control (ANA/APIC) have a page dedicated to everything you need to know about hand hygiene. It includes videos and a long list of resources. Handwashing is an incredibly simple task that can make a huge difference in the spread of infectious diseases. Share the ANA/APIC information with your colleagues and patients and find opportunities to work hand hygiene education into your daily practice.
