The spread of misinformation has a harmful health impact on personal and public health. The creation and spread of falsehoods is a serious threat to nursing practice and patient safety. Nurses, cited as the most trusted profession for their honest and ethical standards, have a critical responsibility to combat misinformation among patients, families, and communities. This session will address what nurses need to know about misinformation and disinformation in health care, how to identify and access credible, trusted health sources and implement practical ways to ensure ethical, evidence-based nursing care in their organizations.
