Trained dogs effective in helping patients manage diabetes

More evidence that dogs are our best friends comes from a study in PLOS One. On average, trained dogs alerted their owners to 81% of hypoglycemic episodes in over 4,000 hypo- and hyperglycemic episodes that were examined, indicating that medical detection dogs can effectively help patients with type 1 diabetes manage their condition.
