Study: CDC says improved antibiotic prescribing would reduce resistance

A study from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) reports that potential harm from antibiotic resistance can be reduced through formal programs to improve antibiotic prescribing in hospitals. Models estimate that the total direct and indirect effects from a 30% reduction in use of broad-spectrum antibiotics will result in a 26% reduction in Clostridium difficile infection.
