Mildred Dalton Manning, the last survivor of a group of nurses taken prisoner in the Philippines in World War II died in March at the age of 98. The nurses were held at a prison camp on the campus of Santo Tomas University in Manila for 3 years. The nurses and the other prisoners had to copy with shortages of medicine, food, and clean water.
